Strategy projects, by default, deal with complex, changing contexts, long time-horizons and transformational outcomes. Faced with this type of task, it’s easy either to get lost in over-complication and wasted effort, or to over-simplify at the outset and miss important nuances.
Strategic thinking is both an art and a science and a well designed strategy project harnesses both intuition and analysis, without muddling them up. This one day course introduces participants to a set of design principles for approaching strategy projects, including both generic schemas for organizing the strategic thinking work and processes to customize the overall process to fit specific project briefs. The course draws on a range of expert analysis of the strategy process, including Liedtka, Mintzberg and Hamel, as well as a wealth of practical experience. The course also introduces a selection of strategic thinking tools and identifies the project stages where they are of most use.
After attending this one-day course you will have an understanding of:
This course is ideal for anyone who has to run, participate in, or provide oversight for strategy projects. This course is equally relevant for strategy projects in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
